Strong Growth for Penn - 9 Sep 2008
Penn Pharmaceutical Services has announced strong full year revenues of £23.3m which represents a 34% increase versus the previous year.
This figure is also supported by strong personnel growth over the same period. To meet this growing demand for Penn’s services, the company has appointed 43 new members of staff over the last 12 months.
Lee Mainwaring, Finance Director of Penn Pharmaceutical Services said, "We are delighted that Penn continues to go from strength to strength and our future plans include growing the business by more than 20% year on year.
"We have recently opened new facilities including a new high potency drug facility and a 75,000 sq. ft., state-of-the art, temperature controlled warehouse to build on the existing storage and distribution provision. Our international presence is also rapidly growing, with bases on the east and west coast of USA and in Japan. The non-EU market is a key target for Penn as we act as the portal for companies to import and QP release of pharmaceutical products into the European market."
Now an employer of 237 people, Penn is fast becoming one of South Wales’ largest employers of highly skilled, specialist staff. More than three quarters of the new appointments are technical and Penn have attracted key individuals with plenty of industry experience.
Jo McCafferty, Head of HR said: "Last year was a strong year for Penn; the business grew by over 30% which meant that we had to recruit more highly skilled pharmaceutical professionals."
