Clinical Trial Supplies Team Recruit Two Key Personnel - 31 Jul 2008
Dr Sue Price has joined the 240 strong team at Penn as Head of Clinical Trial Supplies; she brings with her a wealth of experience in working with major pharmaceutical companies including Sanofi-Winthrop and Brecon Pharmaceuticals. Most recently she has worked as an independent clinical suppliers consultant for a number of pharmaceutical companies.
Dr Price holds a pharmacy degree from Aston University and a PhD relating to medication compliance in out patient clinical trials from Sunderland University and an MBA from the University of Strathclyde. She said: "I have joined Penn to further strengthen the CTS team and build on the existing success of the department, Penn as a company is really thriving and I am pleased to be able to add my knowledge and experience."
Another key appointment within the CTS department is Pedro Pala, Pedro has joined Penn as a CTS Project Manager, following a five year appointment with Simbec Research. Originally from Portugal came to Wales to study and decided to stay after identifying a number of key bioscience companies in the region.
Speaking on his appointment Pedro said: "I graduated from University of Glamorgan with a BSc (Hons) in Biology and from the Welsh School of Pharmacy with a MSc in Clinical Research and knew that I wanted to stay local, when the opportunity to join the team at Penn arose I jumped at the chance. Penn is such an exciting company to be part of, with great annual results, a strong international presence and high levels of ambition."
Paul Thomas, Pharmaceutical Services Director said: "Last year was a strong year for Penn, the business grew by nearly 40% which meant that we had to recruit more highly skilled pharmaceutical professionals.
"All departments within Penn witnessed high levels of growth, the new appointments of Dr Price and Pedro are as a result of such success. Penn has also recently introduced a number of new business initiatives which include a high containment facility for the production of highly potent drugs and increasing our temperature controlled facilities seven fold with the opening of our 75,000 square feet storage and distribution facility to further support our Clinical Trial Supply (CTS) and Storage and Distribution services."
