The temperature-controlled warehouse, located at Pen-y-Fan Industrial Estate in Crumlin, will further support Penn’s existing clinical and commercial storage and distribution services.

The new warehouse creates an additional 2,400 pallet locations and will be able to hold several hundred thousand patient drug packs, increasing Penn’s storage and distribution capacity seven fold.

Baron Neil Kinnock said: "Penn is a truly inspirational Welsh company that is continuing to grow, expand and recruit in Gwent and the surrounding areas. It was an honour to be invited to open such an exciting development for Penn and I hope that the success continues."

Peter George, Chief Executive Officer of Penn Pharmaceuticals said, "Penn is thrilled to welcome Baron Neil Kinnock to open our new warehouse facility, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion.

"The warehouse will have more than 10 deliveries daily and will be distributing product worldwide on a daily basis. The opening forms part of our ongoing growth strategy, following the official opening by the First Minister of our new high containment suite, built in response to a growing demand within the industry for high potent processing and manufacturing.
