Peter has 10 years at board level as a Senior Executive with full P&L experience in public & private sector businesses. He has a background in healthcare, pharmaceutical and life sciences, as well as healthcare publishing, business intelligence, M&A and investment banking. Peter has managed operations globally, in the UK, Europe, North and South America and Asia Pacific.

A Clinical Biochemist and Immunologist by training, Peter rose to Head of Pathology in the NHS, and then left to develop an independent pathology provider into a global clinical trials laboratory servicing pharmaceuticals, UCTi, where he was Chief Operating Officer.

Prior to Penn, Peter was Executive Vice President, Europe & Asia Pacific, for the Pharma Solutions Division of Wolters Kluwer Health. Here Peter had full P&L responsibility for a +$100 million business across 13 offices in Europe and Asia Pacific delivering published clinical trials, competitor intelligence and customised marketing services to the pharmaceutical industry. In all of these businesses Peter specialised in driving growth, both organic and acquisition-led, developing strategy and creating business plans that achieve these strategic goals. A driven leader with cross-functional capabilities, seasoned judgement and entrepreneurial skills, with strong financial acumen to drive execution and growth. Peter has significant experience of change management and culture and team development.

Peter joined Penn in June 2006 as Chief Operating Officer, becoming CEO in December 2006. Peter joined Penn with the remit to sell it on behalf of the then shareholders, but ended up buying it leading the £67M tertiary MBO in April 2007.
